The most common used braces are the metallic ones. For patients seeking a more esthetics approach, they can choose among three other types of treatments. First, there is the ceramic braces, which look like the metallic ones in shape but are white in color. Second, are the “hidden” braces also known as the lingual braces. They are attached from the inside part of the teeth. And last but not least, there is the Aligners or the “No braces” treatment, which are trays that you can remove whenever you want.
Lingual braces or Invisible braces !
Lingual orthodontic treatment is an alternative to traditional treatment, designed to satisfy patients who wish to have their teeth aligned but do not want the labial brackets that shows when they talk or smile. Lingual braces are custom made fixed braces bonded to the back of the teeth making them invisible to other people. Don’t confuse them with so-called “ceramic” braces, which are merely semi-transparent ceramic attached to the front of the teeth.
How are Braces done?
Our orthodontist will bond the brackets to your teeth from outside or inside depending on each case. Afterwards, he will place a metal wire that will apply pressure to the teeth in order to move them into the desired position. You will have to come every 3-6 weeks for some adjustments and the average time for a complete orthodontic treatment is around two years.
After completing your treatment you will have to wear a retainer to ensure that your teeth will not move again.
